A 29 year old Pakistani-born in United States made the headlines of all the leading international newspapers and magazines in May. That however, for all the wrong reasons. It was for something that has apparently come to be the sole defining feature of Pakistanis around the world these days.

Mark Mazzetti, Sabrina Tavernise and Jack Healy in “Suspect, Charged, Said to Admit to Role in Plot” Published on May 4, 2010 share that Faisal Shehzad, arrested for a failed attempt at car bombing in Times Square has not only admitted his role in the terrorist activity but also confessed on receiving explosives training from Pakistan. The investigators are strongly probing into the matter for any possible links with Pakistani Taliban.

There is nothing novel about this incident. Ever since the 9/11 incident there have been a number of similar arrests of Pakistanis and Arab Muslims. As a reaction to such events Pakistanis have developed this strong penchant for blindly defending themselves against the terrorist label.
